Shuanghe Village, Wuyuan

Shuanghe Village is located in Qinghua Town, Wuyuan. It is a fairly typical Huizhou-style village in Jiangxi Province. The classic features of such villages—small bridges, flowing streams, and quaint houses—are all present here. Most of the buildings feature the classic white walls, black tiles, and horse-head gables. Shuanghe Village doesn’t get as many visitors as some other villages, making it noticeably quieter, but the scenery is actually quite delightful.

In Qinghua, Shuanghe Village was once connected to the old street via another covered bridge. The area retains the same layout as the ancient Tang Dynasty-era street. Yue Fei once wrote a poem about Wuyuan: “The upper and lower streets stretch five li apart, with wine shops’ green curtains lining the flower bridge.” Ride a bicycle along the bluestone-paved path of the street, passing by ancient buildings and old shops one after another, as if stepping into a historical lane. The old street is well preserved, and on the right side of the village entrance, there is still a wooden plank bridge leading to the opposite village.
