Dun Chong Hall

Also known as Zhongxian Mansion, Dun Chong Hall is located in Jiangwan, Wuyuan. Built in the fourth year of the Tongzhi reign during the Qing Dynasty (1865), it was the residence of Jiang Guigao, an official in the Ministry of Revenue during the Tongzhi era. This group of Hui-style buildings features a north-south orientation and a horizontal layout. The shop hall, carriage-dropping hall, reception hall, and main hall are all interconnected horizontally, each with its own entrance, yet linked internally through side doors. At the back is a garden. The grandeur of the architecture fully reflects the status and wealth of its owner. The main house consists of a single ridge, two halls, two courtyards, and is a two-story structure, accessible via a main gate on the east side. The courtyard floor is paved with cobblestones in a coin pattern, symbolizing the continuous flow of wealth. A safety water tank is also placed in the main hall courtyard, demonstrating the strong fire prevention awareness of families in Huizhou.
