The Yu Ancestral Hall of Xinyuan Village, Sixikou Town, Wuyuan (also known as the “Four Kin Yiqing Ancestral Hall”) was built in 1565 and has a history of 444 years. Though it was renovated in 2003, the wood carvings, brick carvings, and stone carvings inside remain intact, especially the pillars which have never been eaten by insects. There used to be a pair of exquisitely crafted stone lions at the entrance, which unfortunately were stolen by criminals this year – a great pity. There also remains a brick-paved street bestowed by Emperor Heng of the Song Dynasty upon a Hanlin academician, where it was customary for civil officials to dismount from their sedan chairs and military officers to dismount from their horses upon entering.

Xinyuan also has eight scenic spots recorded in its family genealogy: Lingyan Tongzhu (Spirit Rock Copper Islet), Helì Qiángǎng (Crane Ridge Qian岗), Dōnglǐng Qíngyún (East Ridge Clear Clouds), Běishān Jìxuě (North Mountain Clear Snow), Jiànfēng Tǐngxiù (Sword Peak Graceful), Yúnjiàn Jiǒngqīng (Cloud Stream Pure), Xìngpàn Xiāngquán (Apricot Bank Fragrant Spring), and Héchí Yuèjiǎo (Lotus Pond Moonlight). Most of these sites still exist. According to elders, the village once had 36 wells and was home to a thousand households.

Sixikou Town: I. Overview

Sixikou Town is located in the central part of Wuyuan County. The town government is situated in Sixikou Village, 13 kilometers from the county seat. It covers an area of 122 square kilometers and has a total population of 13,771. The town administers 8 village committees (Sixikou, Qiantan, Changtan, Gaojian, Xiyuan, Sixi, Xichong, and Heshantan), 88 natural villages, and 105 villager groups.

The terrain is mainly hilly, with mountains accounting for 76.6% of the town's total land area, making it one of the county’s key forestry and tea production areas. The forested area spans 140,000 mu, with a standing timber volume of 320,000 cubic meters and annual sales of 5,000 cubic meters of commercial timber. There are 4,000 mu of tea gardens...
