Pitou Village Residential Buildings is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Jiangxi Province.

Pitou Village Residential Buildings is one of the ancient villages in Wuyuan County where well-preserved traditional dwellings can be found. With a history of 1,122 years, Pitou Village is surrounded by green mountains, boasting beautiful natural scenery. The village stretches out to the left and right, with mountain ridges standing like screens in front and behind, resembling a Taiji Eight-Diagram pattern.

Pitou Village (Zhongyun Town) is located in Zhongyun Town, Wuyuan County, Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province, China. Historically known as “Taohexi” (Peach Creek), its residents mostly bear the surname Pan. Legend has it that during the Guangming era (880 AD) of the Tang Dynasty, Pan Fengchen from Sanshan, Fujian, relocated here from Huangdun in She County, Anhui. The downstream villages of Taohexi, including Kongcun and Zhifengcun, also developed from this settlement.

For a thousand years, Pitou Village within the scenic area has enjoyed a flourishing literary culture and produced many talented individuals. Thirty-six stone bridges span across the village, and every household features a fish pond, creating a uniquely charming atmosphere.

Pitou Village still preserves large expanses of ancient architecture. The Pitou Village Residential Buildings (including: the Study of Grand Tutor, Pan Jinshu’s Residence, Pan Baochun’s Residence, and Pan Dahu’s Residence) were listed as a Jiangxi Provincial Cultural Heritage Site in 2006.

Zhongyun Town: Zhongyun Town is located in the southwest of Wuyuan County. It was upgraded from a township to a town in 1993, after which Xiaolin Township and Longshan Township were successively incorporated, making the current Zhongyun Town a substantial township in Wuyuan County. It administers 11 administrative villages and 1 neighborhood committee, covering a total area of 233 square kilometers with a population of over 24,000.

Zhongyun Town is located in the mid-subtropical zone and enjoys a warm, humid climate under the influence of the southeast monsoon. The annual average temperature is 126.7°C, the annual average precipitation is 1,790.7 millimeters, and the frost-free period lasts about 252 days.
