Jiangwan Village Residential Buildings are a protected cultural heritage site of Jiangxi Province.

Jiangwan is a land of exceptional natural beauty and cultural richness. Surrounded by picturesque landscapes and abundant resources, it is famed for its high-quality green tea and snow pears. The area has long been a cradle of talent, nurturing eminent figures such as Jiang Yilin, Vice Minister of Revenue in the Ming Dynasty, Jiang Yong, a renowned Confucian scholar and phonologist in the Qing Dynasty, and Jiang Qian, an eminent educator and Buddhist scholar of the Qing Dynasty, among many other scholars and notables. The villagers have produced 88 published works, and 25 individuals have held official positions at or above the seventh rank. As a representative of Wuyuan’s scholarly heritage, the village preserves well-maintained residences including the “Three Provinces Hall,” “Dunchong Hall,” and “Peixin Hall.”

Jiangwan Village is located in Jiangwan Town, Wuyuan County, Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province, China. Historically known as “Yunwan,” its residents are predominantly surnamed Jiang (reportedly changed from Xiao due to historical adversity). The village has produced notable historical figures such as Jiang Yong and Jiang Qian, and is the ancestral home of Jiang Zemin. In 2004, it was honored as a “National Model Village for Democracy and Rule of Law,” and in 2008, it was recognized as a “China Green Village.”

The village retains large expanses of ancient architecture. The Jiangwan Village Residential Buildings (including the Yueli Hall, Dunlun Hall, and Shanyu Hall) were listed as a cultural heritage site of Jiangxi Province in 2006. Additionally, the reconstructed Xiaojiang Ancestral Hall dates back to 2003.
