Jingdezhen Ceramic University is China’s only multidisciplinary undergraduate university named after ceramics. It is one of the 30 independently established undergraduate art institutions in the country and among the first 94 universities qualified to enroll international students under the Chinese Government Scholarship program for master's and bachelor's degrees. Approved as a supported institution in the Central and Western China Higher Education Basic Capacity Building Project, it has now developed into an important base for ceramic culture and art exchange, talent cultivation, and technological innovation both nationally and globally.

The university currently has three campuses—Xinchang, Ceramic Research Institute, and Xianghu—covering an area of over 1,600 acres. It comprises 10 colleges (departments): College of Materials Science and Engineering, College of Ceramic Art, College of Design Art, College of Art and Cultural Heritage, College of Mechanical and Electronic Engineering, College of Management and Economics, College of Information Engineering, School of Foreign Languages, School of Marxism, and Department of Physical Education and Military Training. It also includes a Graduate School, International College, Innovation and Entrepreneurship College, Continuing Education College, and an independent college—the College of Science, Technology and Art. There are over 19,000 full-time undergraduate and above students (including those at the independent college), including 40 doctoral students, 1,035 master's students, and nearly 100 international students, forming a complete talent development system at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels. The university has 802 full-time faculty members, including 450 with senior titles and 202 holding doctoral degrees. Among them are more than 50 high-level talents such as members of the Academic Degree Committee of the State Council (Design discipline), recipients of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, national candidates of the “New Century Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talents Project,” and experts enjoying special government allowances from the State Council. There are also 26 national-level art masters and nearly 200 provincial-level expert talents.
