Main Pit Entrance of Anyuan Coal Mine General Tunnel

The Main Pit Entrance of Anyuan Coal Mine General Tunnel is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The General Tunnel is the main entrance of the Anyuan Coal Mine, which includes the East Tunnel and the West Tunnel. Since the mine shafts are horizontal tunnels, it is called the General Tunnel. The emblem above the entrance is made up of an axe and a hammer, with the axe representing underground workers and the hammer representing machinery workers. The pavilions on both sides of the entrance were used by supervisors in the past to specifically inspect the workers. In the autumn of 1921, Mao Zedong came to Anyuan for an inspection and entered the mine through this entrance seven times to meet with the workers. Li Lisan and others also conducted multiple mine inspections during their work in Anyuan. In September 1922, this place was an important site for the workers' struggle. The General Tunnel is now a Jiangxi Provincial Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit and an important site for red tourism. The TV series "Mao Zedong Goes to Anyuan" recreates the scenes of the "General Tunnel" multiple times.

In May 2013, the State Council (State Council Document [2013] No. 13) announced the Main Pit Entrance of Anyuan Coal Mine General Tunnel as part of the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
