On the morning of September 27, Mr. Liu, representing tens of thousands of travelers from across the country, visited the Department of Gynecology at Xiangya-Pingkuang Cooperative Hospital in Xiangtan to present flowers and express gratitude to female doctor Li Hanyi.
It turned out that 20 days ago, a touching scene unfolded atop a scenic mountain in Jiangxi Province: a middle-aged man suffered an asthma attack after reaching the summit. A young female doctor rushed over upon hearing the news and without hesitation, threw herself into performing mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. The story and photos of the female doctor’s heroic act spread online, moving tens of thousands of outdoor travelers both within and outside the province. Many travelers called her “the most beautiful doctor,” and for 20 days they posted numerous online messages searching for her. Yesterday evening, a netizen informed them that the woman in the photo who performed the rescue was Dr. Li Hanyi, a gynecologist at Xiangya-Pingkuang Cooperative Hospital in Pingxiang City. As a result, on the morning of September 27, Mr. Liu went to the hospital to thank “the most beautiful doctor” Li Hanyi on behalf of the tens of thousands of travelers who had been earnestly searching for her.
That morning, Dr. Li Hanyi’s selfless act of saving a life while traveling and remaining anonymous attracted widespread media attention. Numerous media outlets including Pingxiang Daily, Pingxiang TV, DaJiang Network, and Anyuan Weekly went to the hospital to interview her. However, when facing the media, Dr. Li Hanyi declined to be interviewed. She stated that as a doctor, saving lives is her duty, and she simply fulfilled her professional obligation.
Mr. Liu, the traveler who was present during the rescue, said that at the time, a male traveler suddenly had an asthma attack. Xiao Li, as she is called, happened to be nearby. Upon learning about the situation, she immediately rushed to the scene and organized the rescue effort. After a series of first aid measures proved ineffective and no medication was available, the patient stopped breathing. In order to buy time for the patient to receive further help, Xiao Li began performing mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
Mr. Liu said, “You didn’t see the scene at the time — the patient had stopped breathing, foam was coming from their mouth, and everyone around was scared. Even we men couldn’t bear to look. But she didn’t hesitate for a second. She gave mouth-to-mouth resuscitation — it was truly heroic.” He added, “At that moment, the patient wasn’t breathing anymore. She could have chosen not to do it, but we were all deeply moved by her actions.”
“After searching for so long, we finally found her!” said Zhao Xinwei, a traveler from Zhejiang. He is the secretary-general of the Pujiang County Mountaineering Association and also a photography enthusiast. He was also present during the rescue. Because he was so engrossed in the rescue effort, he only remembered to take a photo once it was over. It was this photo that helped the travelers locate “the most beautiful doctor” Li Hanyi. “In life, everyone will face difficulties and definitely need help from others, so we need people like Doctor Li to step up and set an example,” said Zhao Xinwei, the traveler from Zhejiang.
