The Tianzi Mountain Cableway, which transports visitors through snowy landscapes
...has worked diligently for another year. From January 11th, the cableway in the core Wulingyuan Scenic Area of Zhangjiajie will be temporarily shut down for maintenance for nine days, resuming operations on the 20th of this month.
According to Xu Yixing, head of the Tianzi Mountain Cableway Company, in 2012 the company strengthened management, boosted marketing, and continuously improved infrastructure construction. Throughout the year, it received over 2.4 million visitors cumulatively, achieving a win-win in both safety and profitability. To ensure operational safety for the new year, the nine-day shutdown is for a comprehensive “check-up” of the cableway. Key tasks include replacing the wheel assembly of support No. 4, maintaining and updating the return wheel at the upper station, as well as inspecting other safety equipment and replacing parts. The planned investment amounts to 1.5 million yuan.
Affected by the recent icy and snowy weather, the Tianzi Mountain Scenic Area has presented spectacular northern wind and snow landscapes, along with rare rime and ice formations, attracting visitors from all over. However, due to low temperatures, some roads and walking paths in the Tianzi Mountain Scenic Area have experienced varying degrees of icing. Currently, environmentally friendly buses on certain sections of the road from Tianzi Mountain to Yuanjiajie Scenic Area remain suspended.
In this regard, the Wulingyuan District Tourism Bureau reminds: all travel agencies should reasonably arrange tourist visits to scenic spots (points) where environmentally friendly buses are operating normally or where roads are not iced over. During the cableway’s maintenance shutdown, visitors wishing to tour Tianzi Mountain must walk up and down via the walking trails, preferably in groups, and follow the guidance of scenic area staff.
