On October 17, Zhou Zuolong, who has just turned 60 and is from Hefei, Anhui, along with six other elderly cycling enthusiasts, arrived at the Wulingyuan Scenic Area in Zhangjiajie to participate in the first "Xibu Old Street Cup" China·Zhangjiajie Wulingyuan Peak Forest Cycling Invitational Tournament.

According to them, they set off from Hefei on October 1, passing through provinces including Henan, Shanxi, Hubei, and Hunan, covering a total distance of over 1,500 kilometers in nearly 17 days.

"No matter how far the journey or how tough the ride, we were determined to reach Zhangjiajie as planned." Before setting off, the seven elderly cyclists made this resolve. Zhou Zuolong told the reporter that they came all this way to compete primarily because of Zhangjiajie’s stunning scenery; secondly, they wanted to personally advocate for healthy, low-carbon, and environmentally friendly travel.

Zhao, one of the female cyclists, is 56 years old. She told the reporter that although cycling to Zhangjiajie was tough, it was also joyful and relaxing. Moreover, reaching such breathtaking scenery in this unique way by bike was very meaningful.

Zhou Zuolong also told the reporter that along the way, they passed more than 30 different cities, large and small, without littering even a single piece of trash or an empty water bottle... They also used their cameras to document the moments of mutual encouragement and care throughout the journey. "Advocating for low-carbon environmental protection requires not only personal commitment but also a spirit of teamwork."

It is understood that on October 19, the China·Zhangjiajie Wulingyuan Peak Forest Cycling Invitational Tournament will be held in the Wulingyuan Scenic Area. At that time, 2,500 cycling enthusiasts from both within China and abroad will ride through the core area of Wulingyuan and enjoy a vibrant ethnic bonfire party featuring the rich folklore and charming old street culture of the Tujia and Miao peoples at Xibu Old Street in Wulingyuan District.
