Chengdu, Jan. 5 (Xinhua/Reporter An Yuan) — The China News Service reported from Barkam on January 5 that the body of the climber who died in a fall while mountaineering at Jianzishan in Siguniangshan’s Shuangqiaogou area in Sichuan the previous day has been transported to the Dujiangyan Funeral Parlor. The public security department has also completed relevant investigation and evidence collection.
It is understood that on the 4th, Wu, a mountaineering enthusiast from Guangzhou, fell to his death after a rock anchor came loose during his descent from the summit at Jianzishan in Siguniangshan’s Shuangqiaogou area. Following the incident, the Siguniangshan Scenic Area Management Bureau immediately activated its emergency response plan, investigated the details, and organized personnel to rush to the scene for rescue operations. Eight hours later, the victim’s body was successfully removed from the scenic area.
In the early hours of today, officials from the Siguniangshan Scenic Area Management Bureau, the Xiaojin County Government, and the public security department held a meeting with the organizer of this climb, the Baiyue Outdoor Club. At the meeting, Baiyue Outdoor Club head Zheng Zhaohui admitted that during this climbing activity, due to negligence, several violations occurred: failure to complete formalities for a change in climbing permit, failure to register the climb with the scenic area management department, and unauthorized hiring of high-altitude support staff. The club and Zheng Zhaohui himself are willing to take full responsibility, confirming that the local management department was not involved, and a memorandum was formed and signed off by all parties present.
It is reported that at 8 a.m. today, after the winter traffic control on Balang Mountain was lifted, Zheng Zhaohui had the victim’s body transported to the Dujiangyan Funeral Parlor to meet with the family and discuss follow-up arrangements. (End)
