Martyr Huang Zhongjie’s Tomb

Martyr Huang Zhongjie’s Tomb is a cultural relic protection unit of Jiangxi Province.

Huang Zhongjie, a native of Gupichong in Huangtang Village, Xiangdong District, Pingxiang, was a martyr of the Xinhai Revolution. In February 1910, he was arrested in Liuyang, Hunan, and was executed by the Qing government in April of the same year at the age of just 29. Soon after, to commemorate his heroic deeds, the people of his hometown specially built Martyr Huang Zhongjie’s Tomb south of Pingxiang City. Huang Xing personally inscribed the tombstone with the words “A single death stirs a new world; ten thousand peaks bow to this heroic soul.” The tomb has become one of the important sites where later generations pay tribute to the martyrs. In 1982, the Pingxiang municipal government renovated the tomb, and in October 1984, it was listed as a municipal-level key cultural relic under protection.
