Zhangjiao Village

Zhangjiao Village is located in Tuling Town, Quangang District, and is a colorful stone village. It is said that the ancient dwellings were built in the fourth year of the Jiaqing reign during the Qing Dynasty. As you approach the old houses, the full view comes into sight: the stones and pebbles on the walls are all rust-red weathered rocks. The houses were built following the contours of the mountain, with no particular attention paid to layout in terms of height or direction. Here, alleys connect to alleys, forks lead to more forks, creating winding paths that feel almost maze-like in their mystery. Walking through the stone lanes paved with pebbles, the walls on either side are within arm's reach.

The houses built from stone are layered and staggered in an orderly yet seemingly random arrangement. The narrow, quiet stone lanes paved with pebbles have been washed by rain over time, leaving ancient marks on the stone beams. Old vines clinging to the stone walls add a sense of vicissitude to the houses. Having endured years of weathering, the stone walls are now mottled, but the hues of reddish-brown, gray-white, and other colors they display, when bathed in sunlight, are so vibrant and rich, resembling an oil painting.

Many artists from various regions, once they visit the ancient dwellings of Zhangjiao, can't help but fall in love with this village that looks like a painting.
