The Dongshi Yujì Merchant House Complex is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

Era: Qing Dynasty

Location: Fourth Community, Dongshi Town, Jinjiang City

Introduction: The three Cai brothers of the Yujing Branch in Dongshi established the “Yujì Merchant House” during the Jiaqing era of the Qing Dynasty (1796–1820), becoming wealthy. During the Guangxu era (1875–1908), they expanded the merchant house near Dongshi Port. Currently, eight large traditional houses and two storage buildings remain.

Historically, Dongshi Port thrived in trade with Taiwan, with members of various clans settling there. During the Qing Dynasty, half of the Cai clan from Dongshi sought livelihoods in Taiwan. The Yujì Merchant House Complex stands as a testament to the close commercial ties between Fujian and Taiwan.

Protected area: An extension of 10 meters outward from the perimeter of the buildings.

Fourth Community: The Dongshi Fourth Community Neighborhood Committee was established in October 1986, originally part of the Fourth Unit of the Dongshi Brigade. It is located in the eastern part of the Dongshi town area, bordered by Guocen Village and Boge Village to the east, the Third Community to the west, the Jinjiang Salt Farm to the south, and the Fifth Community and Dongcheng Village to the north. The area covers approximately 1.2 square kilometers, with a current resident population of 3,684 people (1,013 households, divided into 3 neighborhood groups), 33 private enterprise collectives and individually owned businesses, over 450 street-front shops, as well as local structures such as the Sanguang Palace, Haitou Palace, and Shilang Park.
