On September 24, 2013, the award ceremony of the "Strait Cup" Fujian (Jinjiang) Industrial Design Competition was held in Jinjiang, marking the conclusion of this more than four-month-long industrial design extravaganza. Gold, silver, and bronze awards for both the professional and amateur categories were presented, with the EZON smart sports watch S1 winning the silver award in the professional category.
The 2013 "Strait Cup" Fujian (Jinjiang) Industrial Design Competition was co-hosted by the Provincial Economic and Trade Commission, the People’s Government of Quanzhou City, the China Industrial Design Association, and the Taiwan Visual Communication Art Society. As China’s first industrial design competition of its kind, it attracted numerous domestic and international professionals in the field. After the preliminary evaluation and public announcement stages, a total of 97 works made it to the final round, including 50 from the expert group and 47 from the amateur group.
The judging panel for the competition was impressive, with 14 preliminary evaluation experts and 10 final evaluation experts appointed. Among the final evaluation experts were Peter Zec, founder and CEO of the Red Dot Institute, Guan Zhengneng, Vice President of Taiwan’s Shih Chien University and a Red Dot Award juror, He Renke, Dean of the School of Design at Hunan University, and Lu Xiaobo, Dean of the Academy of Arts & Design at Tsinghua University.
