Over 100 environmental volunteers concluded a three-day expedition in Taibai Mountain, Shaanxi on the 23rd. They hiked 60 kilometers across the main peak of the Qinling Mountains, Taibai Mountain, and collected hundreds of kilograms of trash along the way.
The Aotai Line traverse through the Qinling Mountains in Shaanxi is one of the top-tier trekking routes in China. Stretching from Taibai Mountain, the main peak of the Qinling range in the east, to Ao Mountain in the west, the entire journey involves crossing more than ten massive peaks over 3,400 meters above sea level, most of which are made of rugged rocks. Coupled with the fact that much of the route lies in uninhabited areas and some sections are prone to sudden severe weather changes, this line has become the most challenging yet scenically stunning trek in the Qinling Mountains.
It is understood that the volunteers participating in this activity came from all over the country. They carried eco-friendly trash bags with them and, while taking part in the hiking traverse, collected trash and discarded gas canisters left behind by outdoor enthusiasts along the mountain paths. According to Chen F+Tong, leader of the Shaanxi Shuguang Rescue Team and organizer of this event, the Aotai Line traverse attracts a large number of outdoor sports enthusiasts every year, but it also leads to environmental damage and frequent outdoor accidents. Through this environmental initiative, they aim to advocate integrating green practices into outdoor activities.
