Weitou Bay

Weitou Bay is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Weitou Bay is only 5.6 nautical miles from Kinmen Island and features two beaches—Golden Sand Bay and Moon Bay—with clear waters and clean sand. The coastal rocks, shaped by seawater erosion, form unique landscapes such as caves and stone pillars that continuously change in shape, offering high aesthetic value.

The sea here is a vivid blue, blending into the sky, and the fine, soft sand on the beach feels comfortable underfoot—a marvelous natural spectacle. Weitou Bay boasts vast, deep waters teeming with yellow croaker, pomfret, mackerel, swimming crabs, prawns, and lobsters, yielding an annual catch of seven to eight hundred tons of seafood.

Facing Kinmen Island across the sea, Weitou Bay is one of Quanzhou’s earliest ports for foreign trade and the first to facilitate unofficial cross-strait exchanges between Fujian and Taiwan. In Weitou Bay, the lush green casuarina trees thrive in the poorest soil, offering meticulous care to the scenery; the most untamed elements are the reefs, which grow freely in unpredictable shapes, scattered throughout the area. Nature has bestowed great bounty upon Weitou Bay, enriching it with seafood such as grouper, black seabream, red seabream, lobsters, and yellow croaker... The ocean’s gifts have sustained generations of Weitou residents, keeping the area lively and vibrant.

Travel Itinerary Planning:

One-Day Trip to Weitou Bay

Half Day (morning or afternoon) → Yongping Ancient Town → August 23rd War Park → Moon Bay → Southernmost Reef of the Peninsula → No. 1 Fort → Return to the hotel via Golden Sand Bay beach for lunch and a nap.

Half Day (afternoon is preferable) → Golden Sand Bay: sea bubbling, swimming, riding waves, playing in the sand, making sand bubbles → Stay overnight at the hotel, enjoy delicious seafood at seaside leisure eateries or restaurants, sip drinks, sing karaoke, have tea, or play cards.

Two-Day Trip to Weitou Bay

Half Day (morning) → Yongping Ancient Town, Weitou Village Scenery, Weitou Ancient Street → No. 1 Bomb Shelter, Daosheng Strait Cultural Center → August 23rd War Park → Tangdong Sea Sand Spit → Return to the hotel.

Half Day (afternoon) → Golden Sand Bay: sea bubbling, swimming, riding waves, playing in the water, making sand bubbles → Stay overnight at the hotel, enjoy delicious seafood at seaside leisure eateries or restaurants, sip drinks, sing karaoke, have tea, or play cards.

Half Day (morning) → Southeast First Outpost (Artillery Experience Camp) → Ancient Fishing Port → Moon Bay → Southernmost Reef of the Peninsula → No. 1 Fort → Return to the hotel via Golden Sand Bay beach.

Half Day (afternoon) → Golden Sand Bay: sea bubbling, swimming, riding waves, making sand bubbles, leisure activities → Return to the hotel.
