Zixing Village

Zixing Village is located in the northwest of Zimao Town, at the junction of Jinjiang, Nan'an, and Licheng. It consists of seven natural villages: Dingxiyuan, Xiàxīyuán, Baijuehou, Jinxing, Zucuo, Dafudi, and Gulong. Among them, Baijuehou and Gulong are revolutionary base villages of the South–Yong Guerrilla Unit of the Chinese Communist Party. Zixing Village gets its name because each natural village faces the Zixi Stream, and when viewed from above, the numerous villages resemble stars, hence the name "Zixing" (Purple Star). It is the descendant settlement of the Three Kings of Min. In 2013, Zixing Village was listed as a candidate village for the Beautiful Countryside Construction Project in Jinjiang. Today, the village is committed to creating a rural leisure tourism destination that is "scenic at every step, picturesque everywhere," featuring beautiful landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and a peaceful way of life.

26 Centuries-Old Trees Complement the Green Countryside

Traveling along the cement path from Zimao Golf Course to Zixing Village, the dense greenery on both sides of the road greets every visitor like an enthusiastic welcome, instantly lifting one’s spirits. Passing through the lush trees and climbing to the bridge in Dingxiyuan, a different pastoral scenery unfolds. Unlike the coastal views of southern Jinjiang, this area boasts beautiful mountains and clear waters, presenting a uniquely splendid charm.

Zixing Village is an economically underdeveloped village in Jinjiang, yet its breathtaking scenery makes one feel its true "richness." The ancient trees in the village are a major highlight. In addition to the famous "Couple Trees" that have been featured in newspapers and on TV, the towering ancient banyan tree growing out of the rocks — "Mao Rong Pan Shi" (Thriving Banyan Coiled Around Rock) — is another marvel and the only tree from Jinjiang selected as a candidate for Fujian’s Tree King in 2013.

A Condensed History: The "Ninety-Nine Rooms" Ancestral Hall

Zixing Village covers an area of 465.1713 hectares, with a population of 2,780 and 692 households. It governs seven natural villages: Baijuehou, Gulong, Jinxing, Zucuo, Dafudi, Dingxiyuan, and Xiàxīyuán. The sole surname in Zixing Village is Wang. Baijuehou and Gulong are revolutionary base villages and served as activity strongholds for the South–Yong Guerrilla Unit of the Chinese Communist Party. Dafudi got its name because a court official ("da fu") lived there during the Ming Dynasty.

Zixing Village currently preserves historical sites such as the Wang Family Ancestral Hall, Fu’an Ancient Bridge and Path, the Amitabha Buddhist Stone Carving, the ruins of the Ninety-Nine Rooms Ancestral Hall, the Wang Zinan Tomb Cluster, the ruins of Dafudi, and Sifangtang. The mid-ancient structure — the Wang Family Ancestral Hall — is the common ancestral temple for nearly 30,000 members of the Wang clan across the 13 villages of Shenkeng, showcasing the vast number of people involved and the profound influence it holds.

In the natural village of "Dadi" (Grand Mansion), there is the site of "Dafudi" (Official Mansion), after which the village is named. It is said that the mansion originally had 89 rooms of various sizes. Dafudi was built around the 15th year of the Wanli era in the Ming Dynasty as a luxurious residence constructed by Wang Menglin, who served as Tongzhi (Deputy Prefect) of Liuzhou Prefecture and held the title of Xiangzheng Daifu (Officer of Public Administration), for his father Wang Yijie.

The Zucuo natural village features a grand and luxurious residence built during the Zhengde and Jiajing eras of the Ming Dynasty by Wang Xianzhai. The old mansion has four sections, five bays, double side wings, three main gates, thirteen courtyards, and ninety-nine rooms. It is said that the feng shui master who chose the site prophesied: "The eastern main wing will produce a top imperial scholar, and the western main wing will yield a prefect." From the 19th year of the Jiajing era to the 46th year of the Wanli era, the family earned the reputation of "five successful candidates and three prefects across generations, and two high-ranking officials in one single dynasty."
