Shijing Academy

Shijing Academy is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

Shijing Academy is located on Chenggong West Road, Anhai Town, Jinjiang City, dating back to the Qing Dynasty.

Introduction: Also known as "Zhu Temple" for enshrining Zhu Song and his son Zhu Xi, it was built in the fourth year of the Jiading era of the Song Dynasty (1211) and the existing structure is from the Qing Dynasty. Facing south, it consists of a ceremonial gate, corridors, an altar pavilion, the Dacheng Hall, and more, covering an area of 932 square meters. The Dacheng Hall is five bays wide and six columns deep, featuring a post-and-lintel and through-tenon style roof truss, and a hip-and-gable roof. Associated relics include a Song Dynasty “Apricot Altar” stele, the Ming Hongzhi-era “Record of the Reconstruction of Aotou Shijing Academy,” and the Qing Qianlong-era “Record of the Renovation of Qixian Shrine” steles.

In 2013, Shijing Academy was announced by the People’s Government of Fujian Province as part of the eighth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage protection units.

Protected area: An extension of 10 meters around the academy.

Anhai Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Jinjiang City. Known in ancient times as Haowan, it was called Anhai after the Song Dynasty. In 1958, the Wuxing Commune was established, and in 1985 it was renamed Anhai Town. Located in the southwestern part of the city, it covers an area of 67.7 square kilometers with a population of 118,000. It is traversed by the Fuzhou-Xiamen Expressway and the Shima Highway.
