Weitou Militia Outpost

The Weitou Militia Outpost is a cultural relic protection unit of Jinjiang City.

The Weitou Militia Outpost is located in Weitou Village, Jinjing Town. Constructed in 1961, it is categorized as an important modern historical site and representative building.

Built in 1961, it consists of the outpost and a trench, facing south and situated to the north. The overall structure is cylindrical, with a diameter of 5 meters and a height of 2.4 meters. It is built with concrete and backed by a wall constructed from stacked granite rubble, with only a small door and six observation ports around it. The surrounding area features crenellations built from granite rubble.

On September 8, 2019, the Weitou Militia Outpost was designated as part of the sixth batch of municipal-level cultural relic protection units in Jinjiang City.

Protected area: A 5-meter extension outward from all sides of the outpost.

Weitou Village: Weitou is located at the southernmost tip of Weitou Peninsula, a protruding area on the southeastern coast of China’s maritime economic zone in Fujian Province — with a scenic area covering 3 square kilometers and a coastline stretching 6,500 meters. The village has over 10,000 overseas and local compatriots, a permanent population of more than 4,000, and over 3,000 migrants. To the east lies the Taiwan Strait, and to the west is the beautiful Weitou Bay. To the south, it is just 5.6 (or 4.7) nautical miles from Greater Kinmen Island, making it the mainland fishing village closest to Greater Kinmen.
