The Fulin Xu Jingpie Residence is a cultural relic protection unit of Jinjiang City.

The Fulin Xu Jingpie Residence is located at No. 95, East District, Fulin Village, Longhu Town. Dating back to the Republican era, it is categorized as a representative modern-era building.

Built in 1933, the Fulin Xu Jingpie Residence was the home of overseas Chinese Xu Jingpie from the Philippines. It is a two-story Western-style house with a protruding turtle-back roof, facing east. The lintel above the main gate is inscribed with the characters “Duan Yuan” (“Elegant Garden”), featuring exquisite stone carvings. The building on the whole remains relatively well-preserved. Xu Jingpie was a prominent overseas Chinese during the Republican period, actively involved in public welfare efforts in Jinjiang and making considerable contributions to his hometown. The famous “Xiaoduan Bridge” in Fulin was built by him.

On February 5, 2013, the Fulin Xu Jingpie Residence was designated as part of the fifth batch of municipal-level cultural relic protection units in Jinjiang City.

Protection area: east to the road, west to the alley, south to the wall, north to the alley.

Fulin Village: Located in the western part of Longhu Town, Fulin Village consists of two natural villages — Tanlin and Niancuibu — with a population of 2,657. During the Yuan and Ming dynasties, it belonged to the 17th and 18th districts of Jinjiang County. It was originally named “Chenlin” (“Chen Forest”) as the Chen clan was the first to settle in the mountainous area. It was also called “Tanlin” (“Tan Forest”) due to the abundance of tan trees. Additionally, the Venerable Hongyi once resided in seclusion at Fulin Temple in the village, which has since been renamed Fulin Village after the temple. Most residents bear the surname Xu, followed by Chen. Niancuibu is entirely populated by the Nian clan, who are of Manchu ethnicity, originally part of the ancient Jurchen people.
