The Chen Family Ancestral Temple at Houku is a cultural relic protection unit of Jinjiang City.

The Chen Family Ancestral Temple at Houku is located in Houku, Andong Village, Anhai Town. Dating back to the Ming Dynasty, it is classified as an ancient building.

The Chen Family Ancestral Temple at Houku was originally built during the Song Dynasty and the current structure was reconstructed in the seventh year of the Hongwu era of the Ming Dynasty (1374). It features a wood-and-stone structure, a north-south orientation, and is composed of an outer courtyard, inner courtyard, east and west courtyard gates, a mountain gate, a central courtyard, a main hall, east and west wing rooms, and a rear section. It has a hip-and-gable roof style, is five bays wide, has three entrance gates, and is three bays deep. The roof features double-sloped surfaces with swallowtail ridges, wooden roof structures, and a bluestone base. The “Feiqianli” memorial archway is one of its auxiliary structures. It provides valuable research material on ancestral temple architecture in Jinjiang.

On February 5, 2013, the Chen Family Ancestral Temple at Houku was designated as part of the fifth batch of municipal-level cultural relic protection units in Jinjiang City.

Protected area: Ancestral Temple – East to alley, West to road, North to alley, South to wall. Feiqianli – East to central gate, West, South, and North to walls.

Andong Village: Andong Village is located in the eastern part of the Anhai Town area and consists of three natural villages—Huangdun, Houku, and Xingtai—as well as the Honghai villager group. It is under the jurisdiction of Anhai Town, Jinjiang City.

In 1952, it was part of Anhai Town. In 1961, it belonged to Anhai Commune as Houku Brigade and Xingtai Brigade. In 1965, the two brigades were merged into Andong Brigade under Anhai Town. In 1984, it was renamed Andong Village Committee. Its office is located at No. 22 Gumiao Road, Anhai Town.
