Jinjiang Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery

Jinjiang Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery is a classic red tourism destination, as well as a base for patriotic education and national defense education.

Jinjiang Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery is located in the northeast corner of Anhai Town, Jinjiang City.

To honor the old guerrilla fighters who died in the armed struggle during the three-year Southern Guerrilla War, the fearless national heroes in the War of Resistance Against Japan, the brave PLA soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the Liberation War, the volunteer soldiers who gave their lives for justice on the Korean battlefield, and the border guards who died defending the nation’s maritime territory, the construction of the cemetery began in the spring of 1958. Tens of thousands of people from all walks of life enthusiastically participated in voluntary labor, filled with deep reverence for the martyrs. The main structures were completed in the autumn of 1959. Since then, more heroes and heroines who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty for the nation and the people during the socialist construction period have been laid to rest here. Currently, the Hall of Martyrs enshrines the spirits of 201 revolutionary martyrs. Over the years, governments at various levels have allocated special funds multiple times for the cemetery’s maintenance, added supporting facilities, and established management organizations. In December 1996, at the initiative of the Communist Youth League Jinjiang Municipal Committee, people from all sectors spontaneously donated over 640,000 yuan to renovate the Hall of Martyrs, restore the Monument, and landscape the cemetery.

Covering an area of 16.5 mu, Jinjiang Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery features main structures such as a Monument, the Hall of Martyrs, and a Memorial Hall. The Martyrs' Monument stands tall in the center, with a width of 3.1 meters and a height of 27.5 meters. The front of the monument is inscribed with eight running script characters: “革命烈士永垂不朽” (Revolutionary Martyrs Will Live Forever).

In August 1997, Jinjiang Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery was designated as a Patriotic Education Base of Jinjiang City by the Jinjiang Municipal Committee of the CPC and the Jinjiang Municipal People's Government. In November 2007, it was announced as a Fujian Provincial National Defense Education Base by the People's Government of Fujian Province.
