In August 1933, You Dafu, a member of the CPC Jin-Nan County Committee and secretary of the Guanqiao District Committee, established a Red Guard unit at the Yu Family Ancestral Hall in Qikeng Village. The unit had 19 members, armed with 19 rifles and shotguns, with You Dafu also serving as the captain. This marked the first peasant armed force in Jinjiang City. Building on this foundation, in April the following year, You Dafu and Wu Yongle, under the leadership of the CPC Jin-Nan County Committee, formed the Jin-Nan Armed Team, which had 15 members and firearms. In March 1935, Yin Lidong, captain of the Second Detachment of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army Minnan Guerrilla Unit (also known as the Red Second Detachment), and Li Jianguang, the political commissar, led over 30 elite guerrilla fighters to campaign in the Jin-Nan area. While in Nanan’s Lingdou, they studied with the CPC Jin-Nan County Committee and decided to expand the Jin-Nan Armed Team into the Jin-Nan Guerrilla Unit. You Dafu was appointed captain, Fu Wenhui (who later defected) as political commissar, Wang Mei as deputy captain, and Wang Cunsheng as head of the political department. The unit had over 50 members. The expanded Jin-Nan Guerrilla Unit mobilized the masses in the Jin-Nan region, suppressed local tyrants, despotic landlords, evil gentry, and unlawful merchants, actively carried out the “Five Resistances” struggle, and repelled multiple “encirclement and suppression” campaigns by the Nationalist army and local militias. It was a revolutionary armed force deeply supported by the people and renowned throughout the Jin-Nan region. From September to October 1935, the Jin-Nan guerrilla zone suffered multiple “encirclement and suppression” campaigns, dealing heavy blows to the Party organization and the guerrilla unit. In January 1936, the Jin-Nan Guerrilla Unit was disbanded.

The Yu Family Ancestral Hall was severely damaged by a fire in the 1980s, losing its original appearance. A new structure with Southern Fujian ancestral hall characteristics was rebuilt on the original site. It features a brick-and-earth structure, is 14 meters wide and 24 meters deep, covering an area of approximately 330 square meters. It is now dilapidated and unused.
