Chishi Palace

Chishi Palace is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

Chishi Palace is located in Xincun Natural Village, Shangshuqiao Village, Zhuangbian Town, Hanjiang District, Putian City, and dates back to the Qing Dynasty.

Description: Originally built during the Song Dynasty, the existing structure was reconstructed in the sixth year of the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty (1826). It faces east (slightly south) and west, is 15.9 meters wide with five bays, 17 meters deep, and covers an area of 270.3 square meters. It is a two-courtyard corridor-style building, consisting of a mountain gate, courtyard, side corridors on both sides, and the main hall. The mountain gate has three bays in width, three columns and seven rafters in depth with a front porch, and the rear eaves feature stone pillars carved with reliefs of the Eight Immortals. The main hall is three bays wide and four columns and nine rafters deep, with two round carved stone pillars featuring coiled dragons standing at the front eaves. The beam supports and spandrels are carved with floral designs such as peonies, largely preserving the architectural style of the Qing Dynasty. Shangshu Bridge is an associated cultural relic.

Protected area: Chishi Palace: 20 meters outward from all sides of the building. Shangshu Bridge: 10 meters outward from both ends of the bridge; 50 meters outward along the upstream and downstream directions.

In 2018, Chishi Palace was designated as part of the ninth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites by the People's Government of Fujian Province.
