The event featured three categories and six groups, namelythe Mountain Marathon4242-kilometer individual race, the Mountain Marathon2321-kilometer individual race, and the116-kilometer mass fitness race. This edition of the race was organized by the Chinese Mountaineering Association, the Chongqing Municipal Sports Bureau, and the People’s Government of Qianjiang District, hosted by the Qianjiang District Culture Commission of Chongqing, and operated exclusively by Beijing Nantianxing Sports Industry Development Co., Ltd.

The China Mountain Marathon Series was first launched in2016year as a national-level mountain marathon event born out of the development trends and demands of China’s running industry.
