Today, the generous me is here to share my secret base with you~ located in the southeastern corner of Chongqing, Qianjiang District~ Come explore it with me (there’s a great prize at the end of the article!)

Bala Hu Scenic Area

“Bala Hu” means canyon in the Tujia language and it is China’s only urban grand canyon. The thrilling transparent glass walkway, 500 meters above the ground, is a must-try for the daring.

Bala Hu also boasts the world’s tallest giant cliff relief statue of Guanyin. It’s said that if you stand in the center of the square, face the statue, and shout your wish out loud, you can clearly hear the echo — attracting many visitors to come and make a wish.

Zhuoshui Ancient Town

Zhuoshui is a uniquely charming Tujia-style town that has perfectly preserved the old-city vibe of Chongqing. Strolling along the bluestone-paved streets of the old town and admiring the exquisitely crafted old houses is incredibly relaxing and pleasant.

The most famous attraction in the ancient town is the Wind and Rain Covered Bridge spanning the Apeng River, hailed as “a quintessential example of Chinese covered bridge culture.” Listen to young Tujia men and women in ethnic costumes sing duets under the bridge, and soak in the romance and warmth of the Tujia people.
