Meizhou Hakka World
Meizhou Hakka World is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.
Meizhou’s “Hakka World” is located next to the Dongsheng Industrial Park in Meijiang District, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, covering an area of 2,000 hectares. Construction began on March 29, 2006, with a projected total investment of 3 billion RMB.
Meizhou’s “Hakka World” is China’s first tourism industry park, approved for establishment by the Meizhou Municipal Party Committee and Government. The park comprises pristine natural mountains along with the Dongsheng Industrial Park and three major reservoirs—Ban坑, Xiaomi, and others. It integrates “eating, accommodation, transportation, sightseeing, shopping, entertainment,” as well as education, scientific research, and culture. It is a key construction project of the municipal Party committee and government, a pioneer in Meizhou’s “emancipating the mind, green rise” initiative, and a “new calling card” for the World Hakka Capital.
Meizhou’s “Hakka World” mainly consists of the “Ten Cultural Projects” and the “Five Major Scenic Areas.” The ten cultural projects include: the Hakka Tripod, the Hakka Ode, the Hundred-Meter Long Hakka Migration Mural, the Hakka Market Day Mural, Impressions of Hakka Capital, the Four Major Sculptures by Pan He, the Writers’ Manor, the Hakka Ancestral Hall, the Plum Blossom Garden, and the Giant Stone Plaza of Hakka World—ten projects rich in cultural significance. The five scenic areas include Hakka World Plaza, Hakka Town, the Thousand-Mu Azalea Garden, the Suburban Forest Park, and Sacred Mountain Lake.
As one of Meizhou’s iconic tourist attractions, Meizhou’s “Hakka World” attracts a considerable number of out-of-town visitors every year who come specifically for its fame. Among them, the temple nestled in the mountains stands like a hidden paradise amidst the dense woods, resembling a secluded monastery. At the same time, Hakka World is also Meizhou’s largest tea tree plantation. During the blooming season of the tea blossoms, many visitors come here with their cameras to this place full of blooming flowers. The snow-white tea blossoms seem to bring a unique coolness to the summer. The tea blossoms are not only beautiful—the high-mountain tea oil from Meizhou is also highly praised in China. CCTV’s Agricultural Channel once featured a special report themed around the “tea blossoms” and “tea oil” of Meizhou’s Hakka World.
