Jiaji Thatched Cottage

Jiaji Thatched Cottage is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

Jiaji Thatched Cottage is located at the foot of Jiaji Mountain in Gongxi Village, Xin County Town, Hanjiang District, Putian City, and dates back to the Republican era.

Description: Originally built during the Southern Song Dynasty, it was reconstructed in the 15th year of the Republic of China (1926) and now serves as the Zheng Qiao Memorial Hall. The structure faces south and features a two-courtyard corridor-style building with a total width of 18.9 meters and a depth of 21.5 meters, covering an area of 406 square meters. Along the central axis are, in sequence, the front hall, a courtyard, and the main hall. The front hall has a hip-and-gable roof, while the main hall features five bays in width and eleven purlins in depth, with a flush gable roof and a wood-and-stone structure. On both sides of the courtyard are side rooms, each three bays wide and two stories high. To the left of the main hall is the “Purple Bamboo Pavilion,” and to the east of the memorial hall lies the Inkstone-Washing Pond.

In 2018, Jiaji Thatched Cottage was designated as part of the ninth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.

Gongxi Village: Overview of Gongxi Village

Gongxi Village is located in the mountainous northern region of Hanjiang District, about 30 kilometers from Hanjiang and 5 kilometers from the town government seat of Xin County. It borders Jiaji Mountain to the east, faces PanYang Village of Zhuangbian across a stream to the west, adjoins Bao’yang Village of Baisha Town to the south, and connects with Guanggong Village to the north. The village has 17 villager groups, comprising a total of 505 households, 2,059 residents, and 66 Party members. It covers a land area of 3.3 square kilometers, including 8,800 mu of mountainous land, 2,200 mu of orchard land, and 817 mu of arable land.
