Former Site of Xuzhou Palace Liaison Station

The former site of the Xuzhou Palace Liaison Station is a cultural heritage site protected by Putian City and a classic red tourism attraction.

The former site of the Xuzhou Palace Liaison Station is located in Xuzhou Natural Village, Xuyang Village, Zhuangbian Town, Hanjiang District, Putian City.

During the Liberation War, the Minzhong Guerrilla Unit established a liaison station at Xuzhou Palace. In early 1947, members of the guerrilla squad such as Huang Zhengrui, Chen Guoshuang, and Chi Hongkun held meetings, stayed overnight, stored weapons and ammunition, and carried out revolutionary activities.

Xuzhou Palace was originally built in the 12th year of the Taiping Xingguo era of the Song Dynasty (987), rebuilt during the Ming Dynasty, and renovated in the 30th year of the Daoguang era of the Qing Dynasty (1850). It retains the architectural style of the Qing Dynasty and preserves some components from the Ming Dynasty. Facing south, the building covers an area of 220 square meters and is a single-courtyard corridor-style structure, consisting of a front courtyard, front hall, central courtyard, and main hall. The main hall is three bays wide and four bays deep, with a flush gable roof and a post-and-lintel wooden frame. The walls on both sides extend 1.25 meters beyond the eaves. It is a temple dedicated to the worship of Mazu.

The former site of Xuzhou Palace Liaison Station was designated as a cultural heritage site of Hanjiang District by the People’s Government of Hanjiang District in September 2006, and as a cultural heritage site of Putian City by the People’s Government of Putian City in November 2009.
