Former Site of the Au Bang Branch of the Communist Party of China in Putian

The former site of the Au Bang Branch of the Communist Party of China in Putian is a cultural relic protection unit of Fujian Province and a classic red tourism destination.

The former site of the Au Bang Branch of the Communist Party of China in Putian is located in Hujing Natural Village, Au Bang Village, Baisha Town, Hanjiang District, Putian City.

In June 1926, Chen Tianzhang and Wu Mengze were dispatched by the Party organization. Using weekends to return to rural areas to carry out activities, they developed the organization and recruited members such as Chen Puchuan, Chen You, Chen Yan, Wang Xiang, and Chen Shunde from Au Bang Village to join the CPC. In October of the same year, the Au Bang Branch of the Communist Party of China in Putian was established at Xinglong Fatan in Au Bang Village. It was one of the earliest four rural party branches in Putian. Chen Puchuan served as the branch secretary, Chen You as the organizational committee member, and Chen Yan as the propaganda committee member. After its establishment, the branch actively mobilized the masses and formed peasant association organizations. Under the organization and leadership of the Party branch and the village peasant associations, the political awareness of farmers across various villages improved significantly, laying a solid foundation for the later establishment of the Au Bang Revolutionary Base.

The former site of the Au Bang Branch of the Communist Party of China in Putian is Xinglong Fatan, which was first built in the 29th year of the Shaoxing era during the Southern Song Dynasty (1159). It enshrines the Holy Lord Zhang Gong, faces south with a northward orientation, and features a single-story earthen-and-timber structure covering an area of 68 square meters. Inside, there are stone pillars inscribed with revolutionary slogans.

The former site of the Au Bang Branch of the Communist Party of China in Putian is part of the Au Bang Palace Revolutionary Site complex. It was designated as a cultural relic protection unit of Putian County by the Putian County People’s Government in October 1981, and in November 2009, it was designated as a cultural relic protection unit of Fujian Province by the Fujian Provincial People’s Government.
