The former site of the Shanglinting Ambush Battle is located in Shanglinting Natural Village, Shidong Village, Jiangkou Town, Hanjiang District, Putian City.

After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan, the Kuomintang authorities in Fujian intensified their military encirclement and economic suppression of the Communist Party and its armed forces, attempting to eliminate the Fujian Party organization. To alleviate the dire financial situation, the Fujian Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China decided to raise funds through armed action. In early 1946, the committee learned that the Fujian branch of the Bank of China under the Kuomintang was about to transport a batch of cash to Xiamen, and decided to intercept the money by force. The task was assigned to the Central Fujian Special Committee of the Communist Party. For this purpose, the Central Fujian Special Committee assembled a strike team of 13 elite armed personnel from Putian, Fuzhou, Yongtai, and other areas, personally led by Huang Guozhang and Ye Liangyun, to carry out the ambush at Shanglinting in Jiangkou. On the morning of January 28, underground Communist courier Huang Meiying spotted the target in Yuxi and quickly reported back to Huang Guozhang, the secretary of the Central Fujian Special Committee, in Jiangkou. After hearing the report, Huang Guozhang immediately convened the strike team to discuss the battle plan, then led them to lie in ambush at the pre-scouted section of Shanglinting in Jiangkou. Around 3 p.m. that afternoon, when the Kuomintang cash transport team entered the ambush zone, the strike team launched a fierce attack. After more than an hour of intense fighting, the strike team seized four bags containing 38.5 million yuan in legal tender. However, they also paid a heavy price: Ye Liangyun, chief of staff of the Central Fujian Guerrilla Unit, and machine gunner He Yongzheng were killed in action, and Huang Guozhang suffered a head injury. Later, the Central Fujian Special Committee handed over the entire sum to the provincial committee, which helped cover its financial expenses for a long period and effectively thwarted the Kuomintang’s violent offensive against the Fujian Party organization. In recognition and commemoration of Ye Liangyun, who was killed in the ambush, the Fujian Provincial Committee specially issued a green leaf emblem.

The former site of the Shanglinting Ambush Battle is situated on the south side of kilometers 91–93 along National Highway 324 (Fuzhou-Xiamen Expressway), on a flat piece of land.

Shidong Village: Shidong Village is the second largest administrative village in Jiangkou Town, Hanjiang District, Putian City. Located near the eastern entrance of Putian, it is just 2 kilometers from the town center of Jiangkou. Both National Highway 324 (Fuzhou-Xiamen Expressway) and the under-construction Fuzhou-Xiamen Railway run through the village.
