The former site of Jiangkou Lenin Primary School is a classic red tourism attraction.

The former site of Jiangkou Lenin Primary School is located in Dongtian Natural Village, Fengmei Village, Jiangkou Town, Hanjiang District, Putian City.

In late 1928, the Kuomintang carried out a full-scale purge of Communists in Putian and announced the dissolution of peasant associations, banning mass movements. At this difficult time when the leadership of the CPC Putian County Committee was weakened and the revolutionary situation was on the decline, Wang Yujie was designated by the Provincial Committee to take over as Secretary of the CPC Putian County Committee. The County Committee members included Chen Tianzhang, Wu Mengze, Wang Jixiu, Guo Shouluan, Zheng Zhen, Guo Xiaoyun (female), Chen Zhaofang, Wu Chengbin, and Chen Guangqian. The Committee decided to shift the focus of their work from urban areas to rural areas and change their methods of struggle from legal to underground. Committee members went deep into the grassroots to consolidate, reorganize, and develop the organization. They also transformed the legally established peasant associations under the name of the Kuomintang into secret Peasant Alliances. Chen Tianzhang and Wang Jixiu respectively founded a Lenin Primary School in Jiangkou and Dongquan (under the guise of private schools) as underground communication hubs and bases for training young revolutionary cadres. The Jiangkou Lenin Primary School was located at Fuzhan Palace in Dongtian Village. Ou Wenhua, a member of the Jiangkou District Committee, served as the principal and teacher, with other teachers including Tang Wenzhu and Cai Zhaoyang. Chen Tianzhang often visited the school to guide its operations and taught classes himself. There were over 20 students at the time. The textbooks used were mostly revolutionary books spreading Marxism-Leninism. In December 1930, due to the failure of the anti-“encirclement and suppression” struggle by the Shewai Soviet Government established by the CPC Putian Special Committee and the arrest and martyrdom of the leaders of the Red Army’s 207th Regiment, including Chen Tianzhang, gloom spread across central Fujian. The Jiangkou Lenin Primary School was forced to close.

The former site of Jiangkou Lenin Primary School is a two-story brick-concrete building with five rooms on each floor, covering a construction area of 180 square meters. It is relatively well preserved. The CPC Putian Municipal Committee Party History Research Office designated it for protection in December 2011.

Fengmei Village: Located at the foot of the Daiyun Mountain range, Fengmei is a semi-mountainous area. To the east, it borders Xinqian Village, about 2 kilometers away from its location; to the west, it is about 2.5 kilometers from the provincial cultural heritage site and Putian tourist attraction, Nongshan Temple. It is a 1-kilometer bike ride south to the Fuxia Highway. To the north lies a lush area of longan trees at the mountain foot. The village is rich in resources and has convenient transportation. The village covers an area of 2.4 square kilometers, with a population of 1,897 and 469 households. It includes two natural villages (Dingbangwei and Dongtian), eight villager groups, one school, and one medical clinic.
