The site of the Wenmoye Bookstore Underground Transit Station is located at the former No. 8-9 Yuanyuan Lane, Qianjie Community, Hanxi Subdistrict, Hanjiang District, Putian City.

In 1929, in order to establish an underground transit station for the Party, Huang Zuchu and Dai Mengquan, underground Party cadres in Putian, discussed the matter with Wu Yusen. Wu Yusen and Dai Mengyuan, the younger brother of Dai Mengquan, took the lead in jointly raising funds and, in the second lunar month of the same year, opened the Wenmoye Bookstore on Yaqian Street in Hanjiang. Dai Mengyuan and Wu Yusen were responsible for managing the store and took Wu Yusen’s brother-in-law Ye Wenchun as an apprentice. In addition to selling stationery and paper, the bookstore also offered a variety of publications including works on Marxism-Leninism and left-wing literature, and was responsible for secretly receiving and forwarding letters from the Party and the Youth League, as well as liaison work. The revolutionary publications sold included over a hundred titles such as *The State and Revolution*, *Two Tactics*, *Revolution and Kautsky*, *Sunrise*, and *Pioneers*. These revolutionary books and periodicals were purchased through arrangements made by Comrade Chen Guozhu in Shanghai, then transferred to the Shengren Store — the urban liaison station located under Longmen in Chengxiang — before being wholesaled to the Wenmoye Bookstore. The Wenmoye Bookstore also handled the transfer of revolutionary necessities such as guns, ammunition, and medicine. In early October 1930, Comrade Deng Zihui came to Putian to lead the establishment of the Soviet government in Waikeng Township and visited the Wenmoye Bookstore during that time. At that period, all stationery, publications, paper, and some military supplies needed by the guerrilla forces and Soviet areas led by the underground Party were procured in Hanjiang by Xu Yuanchang, secretary of the Putian County Committee of the Communist Youth League, and the funds involved were often temporarily deposited at the Wenmoye Bookstore. In December of the same year, Han Yongfan, secretary of the Putian County Committee of the Communist Youth League, was ordered to go with Xu Yuanchang to the Wenmoye Bookstore in Hanjiang to purchase medicine, stationery, paper, and military supplies. They then hired farmers to carry the items to Gongkou, the Hanwu Steamship Station in Hanwu, intending to transport them inland to the Waikeng Revolutionary Base. However, they were arrested by plainclothes detectives from the Hanjiang Police Bureau. Under severe torture, Han and Xu remained steadfast and kept the Party’s secrets, but the porter, unable to withstand the threats, revealed the two supply locations: the Wenmoye Bookstore and the Luding Transit Station. As a result, both underground transit stations were destroyed, the Party’s secret leaflets were confiscated, information about the Red Army’s activities in Waikeng was obtained by the enemy, and the Waikeng Soviet Area was demolished. After the Wenmoye Underground Liaison Station was compromised, Dai Mengyuan and Wu Yusen raised funds again to continue operations. In 1935, Wu Yusen operated the store alone until the liberation.

The site of the Wenmoye Bookstore Underground Transit Station was demolished during the old city renovation in 1991.
