The former site of Cai Pingyuan’s liaison station is a classic red tourism attraction.

The former site of Cai Pingyuan’s liaison station is located in Houyang Natural Village, Xiayang Village, Dayang Township, Hanjiang District, Putian City.

Cai Pingyuan graduated from a police academy during the Northern Expedition period, served as the Salt Affairs Director of Putian County under the Kuomintang, and held positions such as Chief of the Police Bureau in Putian and Yongtai counties. He was an influential and open-minded local gentry figure in Dayang who had cooperated with the Communist Party as early as the Great Revolution period. In 1946, his eldest son, Cai Guangzhou, was introduced to the revolutionary path by Lin Runan through their connection as Xiamen University classmates. He served as Secretary of the Fuzhou Working Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, and his younger brother, Cai Guangyu, also joined the revolutionary ranks. In August 1948, Cai Guangyu accepted a mission from the organization to return to Dayang to establish a revolutionary base. He received strong support from his father, Cai Pingyuan, who pledged to give everything he had for the revolution, actively helped contact target individuals, carried out liaison work, and successfully advanced the establishment of the Dayang base. From then on, Cai Pingyuan’s home became a liaison station and activity hub for the underground Communist Party organization in central Fujian. In July 1949, Cai Pingyuan’s house was burned down by Kuomintang troops during the anti–“mopping-up” campaign in Dayang.

The former site of Cai Pingyuan’s liaison station was originally a two-story, seven-room earthen-and-wood structure. It was burned down by the Kuomintang during the “mopping-up” campaign in July 1949, and was rebuilt on the original site in 1950 to restore its original appearance.
