Former Site of the Minzhong Detachment Arsenal

The former site of the Minzhong Detachment Arsenal is a classic red tourism attraction.

The former site of the Minzhong Detachment Arsenal is located in Waikeng Natural Village, Chekou Village, Dayang Township, Hanjiang District, Putian City.

Guifeng Rock is located on the mountainside of Shitou Mountain between Yaoshan and Che0-jie. There is a natural cave here, located in a perilous and concealed spot, accessible only by a narrow, cliffside path. The cave covers an area of about 60 square meters. This cave sits at the commanding height of a key transportation route. From the top of the cave, one can oversee the entire panorama and movements of Dayang. Therefore, in February 1949, after the establishment of the Minzhong Detachment Headquarters, an arsenal was set up here to bolster the weaponry of the revolutionary forces. At that time, over ten guerrilla fighters and arms manufacturing technicians produced firearms, cannons, handguns, ammunition, and other weapons in this cave.

The former site of the Minzhong Detachment Arsenal is Guifeng Rock. Originally built during the Song Dynasty, it was burned down by the Kuomintang army during their “encirclement and suppression” campaign in Dayang in July 1949. After liberation, villagers spontaneously raised funds to rebuild it. The temple faces south and is divided into three halls. The main hall enshrines the Dark Emperor of the North, the Five Dragon Kings of the Sea, and Master Pan Gong, while the side hall enshrines Guanyin and the Eight Immortals. Covering an area of 300 square meters, it has now become a widely renowned sacred site.
