Former Site of the Food Storage Depot of the Minzhong Detachment

The former site of the food storage depot of the Minzhong Detachment is a cultural heritage conservation unit of Hanjiang District and a classic red tourism attraction.

The former site of the food storage depot of the Minzhong Detachment is located in Sanlian Natural Village, Yaoshan Village, Dayang Township, Hanjiang District, Putian City.

In late March 1949, after the watchtower at Dukou Street in Dayang was taken down, Cai Guangyu, Secretary of the Dayang District Committee of the Communist Party of China, presided over a district committee meeting at Dayang Primary School, attended by Cai Guangyu, Lai Du, and others. The meeting decided to take advantage of the enemy’s retreat to open the Nationalist Party’s food storage depot in Dayang. Subsequently, members were dispatched to villages to mobilize the masses and organize teams. Led by Cai Guangyu and supported by Huang Xingzhong, they stormed the depot. The warehouse keeper fled upon hearing the news, allowing them to successfully open the warehouse. The grain was then distributed to poor farmers, and part of the rice was transported to the Shuitou Palace food storage depot for processing into polished rice to supply the Minzhong Regional Committee offices and guerrilla forces.

The former site of the food storage depot of the Minzhong Detachment is Shuitou Palace, originally built during the Song Dynasty and rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty. It faces west and has a total width of 14.36 meters and a depth of 18 meters. It consists of a front hall, an inner courtyard, and a rear hall. The rear hall has five bays in width and four columns in depth, with a wooden beam structure, covering an area of 258 square meters. It is a temple dedicated to the worship of the Holy King Zhongshun and Lady Yao.

In September 2006, the former site of the food storage depot of the Minzhong Detachment was designated as a cultural heritage conservation unit of Hanjiang District by the People's Government of Hanjiang District.
