The former site of the Battle of Baizhang Ridge is a classic red tourism attraction.

The former site of the Battle of Baizhang Ridge is located at the border between Xiayang Village in Dayang Township, Hanjiang District, Putian City, and Lingxia Village in Dongzhang Town, Fuqing City.

On July 28, 1949, the Kuomintang army organized a “mopping-up” operation in Dayang, attempting to annihilate the headquarters of the Central Fujian Detachment. Upon receiving intelligence, the leaders of the Central Fujian Detachment headquarters, together with the leaders of the People's Liberation Army vanguard unit, jointly studied and determined a counter “mopping-up” battle plan. They decided to deploy one squadron of guerrillas along with one PLA platoon to defend Baizhang Ridge, blocking enemy forces advancing from the east; two guerrilla squads along with one PLA squad to hold Nanling, the northern barrier of Dayang, preventing the enemy from breaking through and ensuring the security of the detachment’s rear; one guerrilla squad and one PLA squad to block enemy forces approaching from Xianyou in the west at Shiba Taji; and one guerrilla squadron along with one PLA platoon to lie in ambush at Xuanzhong Ridge to confront enemy forces launching a frontal assault from Putian. The work team of the Central Fujian Work Committee, together with the Dayang District Committee, was responsible for organizing the evacuation of civilians and ensuring logistical support. On July 29, the counter “mopping-up” battle commenced. The PLA vanguard unit and guerrilla forces repelled multiple attacks by over 1,000 traffic police and militia from Fuqing at Baizhang Ridge; on the two high grounds of Nanling and Shiba Taji, they intercepted two enemy squads each from Yongtai and Xianyou, safeguarding the flanks and rear of the detachment headquarters.

The former site of the Battle of Baizhang Ridge is a high point along the essential mountain route from Fuqing to Dayang.
