Four Seasons Pomegranate Garden Scenic Area

The Four Seasons Pomegranate Garden Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Four Seasons Pomegranate Garden Tourist Area is built around Liuyuan Village. A typical mountainous village in northern Anhui, Liuyuan specializes in pomegranate cultivation and is one of China’s six major pomegranate production bases, as well as a hub for seedless pomegranates. Over a thousand acres of ancient pomegranate orchards dating back to the Ming and Qing dynasties are still preserved today. In 2012, "Tashan Pomegranates" were designated as a geographical indication product by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine. Liuyuan Village has been honored with titles such as National Civilized Village and National Famous Village for Characteristic Landscape Tourism.

With a long history, rich cultural heritage, and abundant tourism resources, Liuyuan Village adds new vitality to the scenic area with China’s first pomegranate museum, a modern visitor center, and a large ecological parking lot. This is the hometown of the legendary figure Zhang Guolao, where many relics related to him are still preserved—such as the Ascension Platform, Elixir Well, Ginseng Well, Immortal Cave, Immortals’ Gathering Platform, Viewing Platform, Elixir Furnace, and Donkey Rolling Spot. During its development, the scenic area has focused on exploring local culture: highlighting filial piety through the story of Cai Shun’s “Picking Mulberries in Different Vessels” from the Twenty-Four Filial Exemplars; showcasing Buddhist culture through the remains of the Tashan Temple; and uncovering Taoist culture via the legends of Zhang Guolao. The area also emphasizes the harmonious coexistence of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism, reflecting the cultural inclusiveness of Liuyuan.

The picturesque landscape of Liuyuan Village is shaped by its terraced mountain homes, shimmering lakes, delightful scenic spots, expansive pomegranate orchards, and hardworking villagers. The influx of visitors has inspired locals to establish a range of tourism facilities including farm stays, family inns, craft workshops, and specialty shops. The Four Seasons Pomegranate Garden Scenic Area has now become an important rural tourism destination in northern Anhui.
