Xiangshan Scenic Area

Xiangshan Scenic Area can be regarded as one of the flagship attractions in our city. During major holidays, hundreds of thousands of visitors come here to explore. The Xiangshan Mountain Range stretches all the way from Xuzhou, with its main peak being the highest point in northern Anhui. Majestic and undulating, it resembles a giant dragon lying across the Huaibei Plain. The lofty mountains, lush forests, and overlapping green peaks make for breathtaking scenery. The scenic area features 18 natural and cultural sites, including Xiantong Temple, ShenShui Cliff, Drinking Horse Pool, Incense Burner Peak, Buffalo Tomb, Ten-Thousand-Zhang Stele, Zouming Platform, and Fishing Terrace.

Xiantong Temple, commonly known as Xiangshan Temple, is surrounded by mountains on three sides, with dense woods and a beautiful environment. The temple complex boasts a grand architectural scale and an open layout. It consists of four courtyards, with ancient cypresses and ginkgo trees towering within. The existing structures follow Qing Dynasty architectural styles. Except for the glass-tiled roofs of the mountain gate, watchtower, main hall, and hexagonal pavilion, the other buildings are covered with blue bricks and small tiles, featuring traditional double-slope designs.

In April 2006, the Mahavira Hall was constructed north of the main hall. Its design integrates the characteristics of ancient temples from both northern and southern China, presenting a grand, solemn, and distinctly contemporary style, adding a new cultural landmark to our city.
