Taifeng Park

Located in the Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area on the coast of the Bohai Sea, Taifeng Park is a large-scale artificial landscape park built on what was once saline-alkali land. It is currently the most distinctive iconic urban landscape in the Binhai New Area.

With a total area of 216,000 square meters, the park is home to over a hundred species of plants. The trees mainly include cedar, Chinese pine, white pine, juniper, honey locust, ginkgo, Chinese scholar tree, purple leaf plum, and crabapple. The large lawns consist primarily of cool-season tall fescue and warm-season buffalo grass. The green space covers 161,120 square meters, the artificial lake spans 40,256 square meters, and the plaza paving, roads, and sculptures occupy 17,000 square meters.

The overall design of Taifeng Park features higher terrain in the north and lower in the south. The northern part is a small elevated area, while the southern section has seven artificial lakes of varying sizes, shapes, and depths, arranged from west to east. Between the lakes and the elevated area are three relatively large valleys. Taking the west gate as the starting point, twelve plazas are evenly distributed along the perimeter in a clockwise direction. Each plaza is centered around a sculpture or fountain feature, representing different themes. These spaces can stand alone as individual landscapes yet are cleverly integrated into a cohesive whole, fully embodying the style of modern landscaping and reflecting the design philosophy of “sparse woods, lawns, gentle slopes, and still water,” as well as the seasonal themes in plant selection.
