The Tianjin Binhai New Area Planning Exhibition Hall is a specialized exhibition venue that comprehensively showcases the overall planning, construction achievements, and future development vision of the new area. It serves not only as an important window to present the image of Binhai New Area, but also as a platform for communication between people from all over the world and the Binhai New Area, as well as a channel for public participation in the planning and construction of the new area.

The exhibition hall is located in the central business district of Binhai New Area, covering a land area of 6,581 square meters, with a building area of 8,515 square meters and an exhibition area of 3,600 square meters. It lies to the north of “Binhai’s Lung” — Taifeng Park, to the south of the extension of the Beijing-Tianjin-Tangshan Expressway — TEDA Avenue, and to the east of “Garden of Four Seasons” — TEDA Tropical Botanical Garden. Utilizing advanced sound, light, and electric technologies, the exhibition hall vividly presents the historical evolution, development and construction, as well as the future prospects of Binhai New Area. Here, visitors can gain a comprehensive, multi-angle, and three-dimensional understanding of the overall development and opening-up of Binhai New Area through various means.

Construction of the exhibition hall began in February 2003 and was completed and opened to the public in October 2004. The building has three floors: the first floor has an exhibition area of 1,500 square meters, including a 1,060-square-meter sand table model, aerial photographs around the model, and accompanying panoramic images on three walls, fully displaying the planned area of 2,270 square kilometers of Binhai New Area. Looking down at the sand table from the second and third floors is equivalent to viewing the new area from altitudes of 4,500 and 7,000 meters respectively. The second floor has an exhibition area of 1,000 square meters, showcasing the overall plan and special plans of Binhai New Area, electronic sand tables of the nine functional zones, as well as individual sand table models of the Central Business District, Port-Adjacent Industrial Zone, and Airport-Adjacent Industry Zone. The third floor, together with the theater area, covers a total of 1,100 square meters. The eastern side displays the Binhai New Area sand table model that participated in the “30th Anniversary Review Exhibition of China’s Opening-Up,” while the northern side exhibits the individual sand table model of Binhai High-Tech Industrial Development Zone. The theater has an area of 270 square meters and can accommodate 84 people. In 2009, it was named a Tianjin Patriotic Education Base by the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government.
