Beitang Featured Tourism Area

The Beitang Featured Tourism Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Beitang is located at the northernmost tip of Tanggu District, Tianjin, bordering the Bohai Bay to the east, Tianjin Port to the south, the Development Zone to the west, and the Chemical Industrial Park (Area) to the north. With a serene and tranquil natural environment, it has long been known since ancient times as the “Land of Water Towns.” By the early Qing Dynasty, it had already become a renowned fishing hub in the regions of Tianjin, Beijing, and eastern Hebei. Entering the 21st century, Beitang’s tourism resources have become increasingly prominent. Local specialties such as Beitang seafood, the Beitang Sea Festival, the experience of spending a day as a fisherman out at sea, along with the rich local customs, traditions, and warm-hearted folk culture, have all become unique tourist attractions in Beitang. With the decision to relocate the administrative center of Tanggu District northward and the maturation and development of Tianjin Binhai New Area, Beitang has once again come into the spotlight due to its geographical advantages. Calls for developing Beitang’s resources and restoring its former glory have grown louder. Currently, the tourism development of Sanhe Island Fishing Port in Beitang has been put on the government’s agenda. In the near future, Beitang will be developed into a multifunctional tourism area rich in historical and cultural heritage, featuring the natural landscape of a triangular wetland reserve. It will integrate Haihe River sightseeing, a fishing port, international cruise ships, seafood dining, and folk culture. Through text and images, this section showcases the unique historical charm and cultural essence of the ancient town of Beitang, aiming to deepen people’s understanding and appreciation of it.
