Tianjin Tanggu District Forest Park, with a total developed area of 4.6 square kilometers, is located in the northwest of Tanggu District. To the east is Beitang Town, to the southeast is the Ocean High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, and to the south is the Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area. It is the largest ecological greening project ever undertaken in Tanggu District.

Stepping into the forest park, what hits you first is an overwhelming sea of green. Various trees stand like vibrant life forms, radiating the enthusiasm of life, while a pool of clear, rippling green water at the park entrance moistens the air exceptionally fresh. With every breath, the seamless green blends into the atmosphere, making you feel as though you’ve become a lively tree yourself — taking root deep in the earth and reaching skyward...

The forest park is planned to include nine functional zones: cultural recreation, leisure vacation, sports and entertainment, exotic culture, animal zone, ecological demonstration, quiet rest area, hovercraft amusement area, and equestrian activity area. The west and south sides of the park will feature one main and one secondary entrance respectively, with key developments including parking, a visitor service center, and a management reception center. Currently, the main entrance and auxiliary facilities cover an area of about 300,000 square meters, with a landscaped lake excavated to about 80,000 square meters. A sunken plaza and corridors have been built, and the outline of the entrance area is largely formed. According to the overall plan, 24 bridges are to be constructed within the forest park, of which 23 have been largely completed. The park has 19 kilometers of main roads, 10 kilometers of secondary roads, seven docks, over 700,000 square meters of excavated lakes, and 6.5 million cubic meters of earth piled into hills. Over the years, more than one million trees have been planted in the park, with 106 species of trees and shrubs taking root, forming distinctive forest belts such as peach blossom woods, cherry blossom woods, and botanical gardens. In addition to traditional species like ash, koelreuteria, and acacia, newly introduced varieties such as mulberry, metasequoia, and white magnolia have also been successfully established, creating a diverse and coexisting plant environment.

One highlight that must be mentioned is the cherry blossom woods. Upon entering the main gate of the forest park and turning right, you will come across an open expanse of cherry blossoms. The cherry blossom is the national flower of Japan. These cherry trees in the forest park were personally planted by Japanese friends from the sister city of the Binhai New Area. In the future, Japanese friends will continue to plant these trees here, nurturing the friendship between the peoples of China and Japan.

Another notable feature is the fruit-picking garden. In the past, residents of Tianjin’s Binhai New Area who wanted to experience the joy of picking fruit had to travel a long way to farmsteads in Jixian County. Now, they only need to drive to Tanggu Forest Park near Chuangye Village on the Tanghan Highway to enjoy fruit picking with the whole family.

Unlike the artificial landscapes in municipal parks, Tanggu Forest Park mainly features natural ecological green scenery, densely planted with trees and surrounded by water systems, offering a wild and rustic charm.

In spring, the forest park comes alive as all things revive — willows turn green, wildflowers scatter their brilliance across the fields, and birds flap their wings, cheerfully heralding the arrival of spring. Wandering here stirs the heart and fills one with emotion. In summer, the sound of flowing water and cicadas fills the air, with birds chirping by the streams. Strolling under the shade of trees or beside lotus ponds, with gentle forest waves and refreshing breezes, one feels completely relaxed and carefree. In autumn, with its clear skies and light clouds, the scenery is simply breathtaking: the picking garden is laden with ripe fruit, waiting for visitors to stop and taste. Looking up, frosty red leaves and forests dyed in layers of color create a fairy-tale atmosphere. In winter, when snow first falls, the world turns white, with the landscape cloaked in silver and trees adorned with crystal branches — a true spectacle of northern scenery with “mountains dancing like silver snakes and plains galloping like wax elephants.”

When visiting Tanggu Forest Park, you can choose to walk along the winding roads of the park, stroll leisurely along the wooden boardwalks, or meander down the cobblestone paths. With a gentle breeze on your face and green trees surrounding you, breathing in the fragrance of flowers and listening to the birdsong, you can fully enjoy the wonderful experience of being up close with nature. Address: East of Chuangye Village, Tanghan Highway, Binhai New Area, Tianjin, north of the North Ring Railway

Transportation: Take bus routes 103, 133, etc., and get off at Xietong Storage and Transport Yard Station

Self-driving route: Take the Tanghan Highway to the Dongli Lake Toll Station, enter the Beijing-Tianjin Expressway, exit at the Beitang Toll Station, take the right exit, drive about 2 kilometers to a T-junction and turn right. This section is the Tanghan Highway. Drive about 1 kilometer to reach Tanggu Forest Park.
