Hangu International Print and Ex Libris Collection Museum

Hangu International Print and Ex Libris Collection Museum is located on Erjing Road, Hexi, Hangu. It is the first of its kind in China and the largest ex libris museum in the world, with a construction area of approximately 700 square meters. The first floor houses the International Ex Libris Exhibition Hall, displaying over 1,000 ex libris works, all carefully selected by the museum’s curator, Mr. Liu Shuohai, from his collection of more than 6,000 pieces. The second floor is the Print Exhibition Hall, featuring original prints by renowned Chinese printmakers such as Huang Yongyu and Wu Changjiang, Vice Chairman of the China Artists Association.

The Hangu International Print and Ex Libris Collection Museum was invested in and established by Liu Shuohai, a well-known Chinese printmaker hailed in the industry as “China’s No. 1 Collector of International Print and Ex Libris Art.” It is the first ex libris museum in China and the largest of its kind in the world.

With a total investment of over 1 million RMB, the Hangu International Print and Ex Libris Collection Museum is located on Erjing Road, Hexi, Hangu. It is the first of its kind in China and the largest ex libris museum in the world, with a construction area of approximately 700 square meters. The museum houses a collection of 15,000 original works of ex libris prints by masters from over 60 countries, including Italy, Belgium, and Russia. It serves as a multifunctional venue integrating appreciation, culture, collection, academia, production, visits, and international exchange.

The first floor of the Hangu International Print and Ex Libris Collection Museum contains two exhibition halls—large and small—for international ex libris works, showcasing nearly 1,000 fine pieces depicting the human form, landscapes, still lifes, and more. These are treasures selected by Liu Shuohai from his collection of over 15,000 ex libris works, including masterpieces from six international ex libris congresses and seven international ex libris exhibitions he participated in. The second floor is the Print Exhibition Hall, primarily featuring copperplate, lithograph, and woodblock prints, with over 100 fine prints from both China and abroad. The museum also

displays materials introducing the history of ex libris art and tools used in making ex libris. The quantity and artistic value of its collections are among the highest in the world.

On October 28, 2007, the Tianjin•Binhai Hangu International Print and Ex Libris Masters’ Invitation Exhibition was held at the Hangu International Print and Ex Libris Collection Museum. Dozens of renowned print and ex libris artists from China and abroad participated in the event, showcasing their cherished works to print and ex libris enthusiasts.

In August 2010, the Print and Ex Libris Art Exhibition of the renowned Belarusian printmaker Roman Sustov, jointly organized by the Ex Libris Research Society of the China Artists Association, the Publicity Department of the Hangu Working Committee of Binhai New Area, the Hangu Culture Bureau, the Hangu Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and co-hosted by the Hangu Carving and Print Art Institute and the International Print and Ex Libris Collection Museum, recently opened at the Hangu International Print and Ex Libris Collection Museum in Binhai New Area.
