The Zhongxin Pharmaceutical Modern Traditional Chinese Medicine Industrial Park serves as both a science education base and a patriotic education base.

Established in 2004 and situated in the Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area, the Zhongxin Pharmaceutical Modern Traditional Chinese Medicine Industrial Park had an initial investment of nearly 600 million yuan and covers a total construction area of 62,000 square meters. Centered around the modern research, extraction, and formulation of traditional Chinese medicine, it is now one of the most unique and sizable bases for the modernization of TCM production in China, and has become an integrated platform showcasing the achievements of Tianjin’s modern TCM development.

The park includes two exhibition halls and three visiting areas. The Tianjin Pharmaceutical Exhibition Hall demonstrates how Tianjin’s century-long pharmaceutical development has advanced Chinese medical culture, as well as how Zhongxin Pharmaceutical preserves and innovates upon historical and cultural heritage. The Zhongxin Pharmaceutical Natural and Humanistic Exhibition Hall displays over 10,000 specimens of various medicinal materials, including more than 600 animal and mineral specimens—among them, one rare tiger bone and one leopard bone specimen—the country’s only ones in existence—as well as over 2,000 plant specimens and more than 7,000 herbarium specimens. It is a multifunctional exhibition space integrating scientific research, teaching, specimen collection, identification, and production. The three visiting areas consist of the “Century-Old Brand” Darrentang Pharmaceutical Factory, the “Wei Medicine” representative Longshunrong Pharmaceutical Factory, and the Zhongxin Pharmaceutical Factory, which integrates modern TCM extraction technologies. These areas illustrate the journey of Tianjin’s traditional TCM industry toward modernization and internationalization, enriching the park with profound patriotic and motivational educational significance from the perspectives of the deep-rooted culture of TCM and “Tianjin Pharmaceutical Culture.” Zhongxin Pharmaceutical consistently places high importance on park construction, continuously investing funds to enhance the park’s facilities and reception capacity, making it more suitable for public visits. The park adheres to providing rich content, modern technical methods, and professional guided tours to fully leverage its educational role and promote the profound culture of Chinese medicine. It also incorporates patriotic education as a core component of its mission, actively promoting the history and culture of TCM and regularly organizing science outreach activities related to TCM culture. Currently, the park’s reception hall is equipped with a 10-square-meter large screen, and the main building houses two meeting rooms that can accommodate visiting groups of 88 and 22 people respectively.

The Zhongxin Pharmaceutical Modern Traditional Chinese Medicine Industrial Park is a municipal-level industrial tourism demonstration site, as well as a district-level, municipal-level, and national-level science education base. In 2013, it was designated as a Tianjin Patriotic Education Base by the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government.
