Seagull Watch Museum

The Seagull Watch Museum serves as a patriotic education base.

The Seagull Watch Museum is located in the Tianjin Seagull Industrial Park. Established in 2010, it covers a construction area of 1,000 square meters with an investment of approximately 7.5 million yuan.

The museum includes a solar projection clock landscape and two exhibition halls, A and B. The solar projection clock was jointly built by the National Astronomical Observatories and the Seagull Group. With a diameter of 19 meters, it is made of three types of granite in Indian Red, Sesame White, and Black Galaxy, surrounded by twelve zodiac bronze sculptures, showcasing strong Chinese characteristics. Positioned via GPS at latitude 39°7'22" N and longitude 117°24'14" E, the clock is marked with scales according to the 24 solar terms of the lunar calendar. Using a person’s solar shadow as the hour hand and adjusting for time differences with a correction table, it calculates the current Beijing Time with minimal error.

Hall A is divided into 10 sections: Timekeeping in China, China’s First Watch, Treasures of Timekeeping, The Path of Innovation, Going Global, The World of Watchmaking, The Seagull Brand, China’s Moment, Boutique Boutique, and Towards the Future. It displays the development of timekeeping in China from ancient times to the present, especially after the founding of the People’s Republic of China, highlighting the remarkable wisdom, diligence, and fighting spirit of the Chinese nation. Hall B focuses on the national technology center and showcases, from a technological perspective, how Seagull Watch has developed nearly 100 independently researched and patented technologies through self-innovation and scientific advancement, including mastering the world’s top three watchmaking technologies: tourbillon, perpetual calendar, and minute repeater. It further demonstrates the determination of the Seagull people to build a national brand and secure Seagull Watch’s place in the international watch industry.

The Seagull Watch Museum showcases the outstanding contributions of the Chinese nation to the history of timekeeping. From the birth of the first domestic watch after the founding of New China to the present, it uses the unremitting efforts of Seagull people in independent innovation as a microcosm. Through the display of cutting-edge watch products, it educates the public to be brave in tackling difficulties, challenges, and innovation. By showcasing Seagull’s repeated victories in international intellectual property rights protection, it highlights the continuous improvement of patent protection in China. Through classic cases in the history of Seagull Watch, it encourages visitors to bring honor to the country and bravely shoulder the historical responsibility of revitalizing the nation.

The Seagull Watch Museum is a model enterprise for industrial tourism in Tianjin and an educational base for youth in Binhai New Area. In 2013, it was designated as a Tianjin Patriotic Education Base by the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government.
