Tanggu Martyrs' Cemetery is a classic red tourism site and a patriotic education base.

Tanggu Martyrs' Cemetery was first built in 1952 and officially opened to the public in January 1954. It is located in the northwest corner of Xinhé Village in Tanggu and was one of the areas with the fiercest fighting during the Battle of Liberating Tanggu. Initially, the cemetery covered an area of only 2,400 square meters, mainly consisting of a martyrs' memorial monument, martyrs' burial grounds, office buildings, and green spaces. The Martyrs Memorial Hall has undergone four renovations and expansions to date.

Today, Tanggu Martyrs' Cemetery has become the largest, most expansive, and most martyr-populated red education base in Binhai New Area. After renovation and expansion, the cemetery covers an area of over 90,000 square meters. The main Martyrs Memorial Monument stands 19.49 meters tall, symbolizing the liberation of Tanggu in 1949. The monument is inscribed with eight gold-plated characters: "Heroic Spirits Live On, Immortal Valor Endures." The burial area features two red flag sculptures: one lists the names of 457 martyrs who liberated Tanggu, while the other commemorates the Five-Star Plaza. The memorial plaza spans 5,000 square meters and can accommodate up to 10,000 people at once. The Tanggu Liberation Memorial Hall, with a floor area of 2,800 square meters, showcases classic battle scenes from the Tanggu Liberation Campaign and the heroes that emerged during the battle through large-scale bas-reliefs, heroic statues, as well as various presentation methods including sound, light, electricity, and multimedia. The second-floor exhibition hall hosts a display on the history of the Communist Party in Tanggu, serving as an important component of patriotic education activities.

Tanggu Martyrs' Cemetery is the final resting place of 558 martyrs, including 100 individual graves, among which 26 are martyrs from Tanggu. Among these martyrs are revolutionary predecessors who bravely sacrificed for the independence and liberation of the Chinese nation, combat heroes who valiantly gave their lives to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as role models of our times who lost their precious lives protecting people's lives and property in the new era. In 2002, it was designated as a Tianjin Patriotic Education Base by the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government.
