Jiashan Park

Jiashan was originally called Jiashan (literally "Home Mountain") and is located east of Yushan Lake. Standing over a hundred meters tall, it faces Yushan from afar. Legend has it that Jiashan is the incarnation of a young man named Jialang, while Yushan is his sister. The two youngsters dared to defy feudal traditions, fell in love despite their parents’ opposition, and ultimately met a tragic end. Their deep love moved heaven and earth so profoundly that the gods turned them into two mountains. It is said that the lake between the two peaks was formed from their tears.

There used to be a temple on the mountain top, which was burned down by the Japanese during the War of Resistance. Later, a benefactor from Nanjing raised funds to rebuild a “Baiyun Nunnery” on the original site, which was demolished in 1958.

Jiashan remains lush and green all year round, covered with dense pine trees. There are more than ten paths leading to the summit. On both sides of the peak, there are viewing platforms where visitors can watch the sunrise or take in panoramic views of the city. Every morning, climbers flock to the mountain, and their laughter and chatter wake the sleeping hills.

Located east of Yushan Park, it is accessible via Bus No. 14 and No. 28.
