Xianghu Lake Tourist Resort
Xianghu Lake Tourist Resort is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.
Zhejiang Xianghu Lake Tourist Resort, located in the western part of Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou City, faces the West Lake across the Qiantang River.
The resort combines the beauty of lake and mountain scenery, boasts an ancient style, a unique charm, profound historical heritage, and rich cultural landscapes.
It features some of the earliest archaeological cultures in Zhejiang, rivaling the Hemudu and Liangzhu cultures, including a 8,000-year-old dugout canoe—the “First Boat of China”—which was listed among China’s top ten archaeological discoveries in 2001.
This place once witnessed the poignant story of King Goujian of Yue “sleeping on brushwood and tasting gall.” The King of Yue City Mountain still preserves many relics such as ancient city walls and the Horse-Washing Pond. Since the Song Dynasty, the ancient Eight Scenic Spots of Xianghu have been celebrated, including “Nostalgia at Chengshan,” “Distant Views from Lanting Pavilion,” “Moonlit Night over the Lake,” and “Cloud Shadows on the Lake.”
Today, with the care of governments at all levels and the people of Xiaoshan, the first phase of the resort has initially established five major scenic areas: Xianpu, Lakeside, Chengshan, Yuelou, and Kuahuqiao. It also features sixteen major attractions: Xiashun Han Yuan, Xiangdi Wo Bo, Xiangpu Guan Yu, Yi Yang Si Xian, Lüdao Ju Xing, Hu Xin Yun Ying, Hu Zhong Luo Yan, Chengshan Huai Gu, Yue Ting, Huqiao Shi Meng, Wangqiao Wang Dan, Yue Di Xi Zhao, Huan Yue Di Xin, Qian Dao Gu Feng, Yue Lou Pin Ming, and Kuahu Wen Shi.

Introduction to Major Attractions
Xiangpu Guan Yu (Fish Viewing at Xiangpu) – This attraction features corridors, pavilions, winding bridges, and flowing water, showcasing the elegance of classical gardens. Colorful fish such as koi, crucian carp, and blunt-snout bream play in the inner lake ponds, captivating visitors and making them linger without wanting to leave.
Xiangdi Wo Bo (Waves Lapping the Xiangdi Dike) – The Xiangdi Dike stretches nearly a kilometer in a winding path, with six uniquely styled bridges along it: Yonglan Bridge, Wanghu Bridge, Yinlu Bridge, Yingqiao Bridge, Zhenliu Bridge, and Cangyun Bridge.
Yue Di Xi Zhao (Sunset Glow at Yue Di) – The Yue Di Dike faces the Xiangdi Dike across the Huqiao, backed by the King of Yue City Mountain. Stretching 900 meters, it includes six bridges: Menghu Bridge, Yuewang Bridge, Dinglan Bridge, Cailian Bridge, and Zhicui Bridge. When the setting sun casts golden rays on the dike and bridges, the shimmering lake surface creates an exceptionally beautiful scene.
Chengshan Huai Gu (Nostalgia at Chengshan) – Over 2,000 years ago, King Goujian of Yue and his 5,000 soldiers held out against the powerful Wu army from the mountaintop fortress here, leaving behind numerous historic sites and relics that later generations come to admire. It is now one of the best-preserved late Spring and Autumn period fortresses.
Kuahu Wen Shi (Exploring History at Kuahuqiao) – Through large-scale archaeological excavations conducted from October 1990 to December 2003, the Kuahuqiao site unearthed an 8,000-year-old dugout canoe and a wealth of artifacts including stone, wood, pottery, bone, and jade tools. These findings vividly demonstrate the long-standing history and culture of Zhejiang.
